Abstract
This study examined the skin moisturizing, wrinkle suppression, and whitening effects of Zingiber mioga extract (FSH-ZM) in vitro models. HaCaT and Hs27 cells were stimulated with UVB 50 mJ/cm2 and B16F10 cells were differentiated by 3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine (IBMX). The cell lines were treated with FSH-ZM at three doses of 50, 100, and 200 ¥ìg/mL; L-ascorbic acid and Arbutin were used as the positive controls. The expression of hyaluronan synthase 2 (HAS2), procollagen, collagen type ¥°, and matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) mRNA were measured by RT-PCR. Hyaluronan was measured by ELISA. The melanin contents and inhibitory effect of tyrosinase were measured. As a result, FSH-ZM increased the production of hyaluronan, and the expression of HAS2, procollagen, and collagen type ¥° mRNA compared to the +UVB control group. In addition, FSH-ZM decreased the expression of MMPs mRNA, tyrosinase activity, and melanin contents compared to the control in the high dose group. In conclusion, FSH-ZM is expected to be developed as a material that can promote skin health by increasing hydration and wrinkle-related factors and reducing the synthesis of IBMX-induced melanin pigment.
